Capital.com has agreed to acquire the European client book of FxPro, marking another significant development in the retail CFD brokerage sector following recent transactions involving FXCM and other established industry players.
The deal will see FxPro Financial Services Ltd transfer eligible clients to Capital Com Group Ltd, Capital.com’s European entity. Both companies are Cyprus Investment Firms authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). Neither party has disclosed the financial terms of the transaction.
The transfer follows CySEC’s approval of the relevant change of control and client eligibility arrangements. However, not all FxPro clients will automatically transfer. Only those meeting Capital.com’s onboarding and risk standards will be eligible, with each assessed under its client categorisation, appropriateness, target market and know-your-customer (KYC) requirements.
Also, Christoforos Soutzis, Europe CEO at Capital.com, said the transaction would strengthen the company’s European reach and bring an established client base into its trading environment. He highlighted the platform’s market insights, educational resources, risk management tools and commitment to transparency.
Capital.com said the transition would involve clear communication, careful oversight and established compliance controls, aiming to maintain its existing standards of client service and protection.
FxPro is an established CFD broker headquartered in Cyprus and controlled by co-founder Denis Sukhotin. In recent years, the company has increasingly focused on markets outside the European Union and expanded into other business areas, including its BankPro financial services offering. The European client book transaction could enable FxPro to concentrate further on these strategic priorities while Capital.com expands its presence across the region.
The agreement follows Trade Nation’s acquisition of FXCM’s UK client book and AvaTrade’s acquisition of most of FXCM’s remaining retail brokerage business. These transactions highlight continued restructuring and consolidation among established retail trading providers.
Capital.com said its growth strategy remains primarily organic, complemented by targeted acquisitions involving regulated counterparties where transactions serve clients’ interests.
The transfer will build on Capital.com’s European operations, which have served clients from Cyprus since 2017. The completion timeline and purchase price remain undisclosed.
