CMC Markets has expanded access to US financial market by extending trading hours across its trading and investing platforms, allowing clients greater flexibility to react to market-moving events outside traditional exchange hours.

The global multi-asset financial services provider announced that more than 5,000 US-listed shares and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are now available for 24/5 trading, with overnight pricing available. At the same time, CMC Markets has introduced extended-hours trading for users of its CMC Invest platform.

The combined enhancements significantly extend the available US trading day, increasing market access from the standard 6.5-hour session to up to 16 hours. The move enables traders and long-term investors to respond more quickly to corporate earnings releases, economic data, company announcements, and geopolitical developments that often occur outside regular US market hours.

According to CMC Markets, the expansion addresses growing client demand for greater access to global markets beyond traditional trading sessions. As financial markets become increasingly influenced by overnight developments, investors are seeking more flexibility to manage positions when significant news breaks rather than waiting for the next market open.

Vaughn Affonso, Co-head of Dealing at CMC Markets, said US market is increasingly shaped by events occurring outside regular trading hours, including corporate earnings, economic reports, and geopolitical developments. He noted that extending trading hours allows clients to react when markets move instead of waiting for the next trading session.

Affonso added that combining 24/5 trading with extended-hours investing creates a more seamless experience for clients, whether they are actively trading short-term opportunities or building long-term investment portfolios.

Laurence Booth, Global Head of Markets at CMC Markets, said expanding access across both trading and investing aligns with the company’s broader strategy of enhancing its multi-asset offering. He stated that the firm’s focus remains on simplifying market access while providing clients with greater flexibility to trade according to their individual preferences.

Booth described expanded 24/5 market access as another step toward creating a more connected and always-on trading experience.

The latest rollout follows CMC Markets’ recent introduction of fractional investing, further strengthening its investment offering and expanding the range of tools available to retail investors seeking easier access to global finances.
