eToro continues to expand its lineup of investment instruments, adding nano-sized futures contracts that give traders exposure to four major US stock indices.
The newly introduced contracts include $Nano.SP500.SEP26, $Nano.NASDAQ.SEP26, $Nano.RUSSELL.SEP26, and $Nano.DOW30.SEP26, covering the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, Russell 2000 and Dow Jones Industrial Average respectively.
The products are based on CME’s existing E-mini futures, but at a significantly smaller contract size. According to eToro, the new nano contracts are at one-tenth the size of Micro E-mini contracts, giving traders another way to access major US benchmarks without taking on the same notional exposure with larger futures contracts.
For active traders, the smaller contract size could make position sizing more precise. Instead of having to increase or decrease exposure in relatively large increments, traders can use smaller contracts to fine-tune their market exposure and potentially align positions more closely with their risk-management plans.
The smaller size may also reduce the capital required per contract compared with larger futures products, although traders still need to account for margin requirements, leverage and potential losses when determining whether a position is appropriate.
The addition also broadens eToro’s offering beyond its traditional mix of stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies and other investment products, giving users more direct access to futures markets tied to some of the world’s most closely followed equity benchmarks.
However, the smaller contract size does not remove the risks associated with futures trading. Futures are leveraged instruments, meaning relatively small movements in the underlying index can produce amplified gains or losses relative to the capital committed.
The contracts also have expiry dates, making contract specifications an important consideration before opening a position. Traders should review the applicable expiration, margin requirements and other contract details before trading.
For traders seeking granular exposure to major US indices, eToro’s nano futures provide another position-sizing option, particularly for those who want to manage index exposure in smaller increments.
