Saxo Bank Co-Founder crypto investment in Skynet Trading signals a substantial foray into digital assets by Lars Seier Christensen. Lars Seier Christensen, co-founder of Saxo Bank, has contributed funds to Skynet Trading, a company specializing in digital asset trading and algorithmic software development, via his investment firm Seier Capital. The announcement was accompanied by an investment from Edessa Capital.
Moreover, Skynet had relied solely on its co-founders’ resources, making these two investors the company’s initial external private stakeholders. This investment coincided with peak dollar values for Bitcoin and various other cryptocurrencies.
“The addition of Seier Capital and Edessa Capital as private shareholders marks a significant milestone for the company, providing strategic input crucial for our next stage of growth” one of Skynet’s co-founders, commenting on the development.
Christensen, recognized among industry experts for drawing parallels between FX and today’s digital asset markets, co-founded Denmark’s Saxo Bank. The bank currently manages EUR 95 billion in client assets and Christensen served as its co-CEO for about two decades before divesting his stakes in 2017 to establish Seier Capital. Noteworthy among his investments is co-ownership of the Danish football team FC Copenhagen.
In contrast, Edessa Capital was founded by partners who previously co-managed Arrington Capital, focusing its investments on digital asset companies.
“We are excited to back Skynet Trading, a business that has successfully navigated numerous market cycles. We are excited to support their talented team,” a spokesperson from Edessa mentioned.
Meanwhile, Saxo Bank is reportedly considering selling either a minority or majority stake, with valuations ranging between EUR 1.5 billion and EUR 2 billion. Previously, the Danish broker’s attempt to close an SPAC deal for going public fell through.
The involvement of Lars Seier Christensen, a co-founder of Saxo Bank, in Skynet Trading’s venture represents a significant stride into the digital asset realm. With Skynet securing its first external investors, the company stands poised for accelerated growth, bolstered by strategic guidance from Seier Capital and Edessa Capital. However, as Saxo Bank mulls over potential stake sales amidst a dynamic financial landscape, Christensen’s move underscores the evolving synergy between traditional finance and burgeoning crypto markets, marking a pivotal moment in the industry’s trajectory.
