Webull has announced a major upgrade to its paper trading platform, introducing new asset classes, advanced trading capabilities, and API connectivity designed to create a more realistic simulated trading experience for investors and developers.

The latest update builds on one of Webull’s most widely used educational features. Since the launch of paperTrade, users have placed more than 204 million simulated orders, using virtual funds to practice trading strategies and gain market experience without risking real capital.

With this expansion, Webull is introducing simulated trading for cryptocurrencies, futures, bonds, and event contracts, alongside its existing support for stocks and options. The upgrade also adds advanced trading tools and a refined pricing engine intended to better replicate live market conditions and improve simulated order execution.

According to Anthony Denier, Group President and U.S. CEO of Webull, the enhanced platform is designed to help investors build confidence before trading with real money.

“Investing is a skill that develops through experience, but gaining that experience doesn’t need to require risking your savings,” Denier said, adding that the company has reimagined the paper trading experience to closely mirror its live trading platform.

The updated environment allows users to seamlessly switch between live and paper trading while preserving customized layouts and workspace preferences. Traders will also gain access to advanced options order functionality, enabling them to test more sophisticated strategies in a simulated environment before applying them in live markets.

One of the most significant additions is OpenAPI support for paperTrade, allowing developers, AI-powered applications, and advanced traders to connect programmatically, test integrations, and simulate trading workflows without financial risk.

“By extending OpenAPI access into paperTrade, we’re giving developers, advanced traders, and AI-powered applications a safer environment to build, test, and refine trading workflows before they ever touch live markets,” said Jack Keating, CEO of Webull Tech US and Head of Institutional.

The enhancements will begin rolling out to Webull users later this month, further expanding the platform’s educational resources and providing investors with a more comprehensive environment to practice trading across multiple asset classes before entering live markets.
